Have your skincare products expired?

Yes - it's true! Just like food, skin care products expire.
But how can you tell?
Each product will have a symbol on it with a number underneath.
The symbol is a container with the lid half off, as pictured.
The number underneath is the number of months the product can be used before the active ingredients have expired.
When active ingredients in products expire, they are no longer working on your skin.
For example - if you have a night cream with AHA's (alpha hydroxy acids) in it, once the product has expired, those acids will no longer be active and will not be exfoliating your skin at night.
While most products contain preservatives, these preservatives will start to break down and will no longer keep the product fresh - and bacteria may be able to grow freely in the product.
So take a look at the products that you are using - and make sure that they are all within date. Otherwise you may be putting the health of your skin at risk.
